The Adventure Begins...

...today with the start of our official British Children's Literature and Photography blog. Today's temperature in Newcastle Upon Tyne is about 58 degrees with "haze" reported as well as a wind of about 15 mph---sound familiar? Geographically, Newcastle is located approximately 40 miles south of Alnwick, so it will be a bit warmer and more protected from wind.

The news on the economy is that the dollar seems to be fairly stable at $1.98. We did tell you to expect to spend two dollars for every pound so hopefully the only action the $1.98 will see will be downward. We've included the links to the weather and the currency converter so you can keep tabs on things yourself. You will also note that the clock indicates local time in Northumberland --very helpful to start acclimating yourself and anyone else who may want to call you during the trip!!

When you need a mental get away, take a refeshing break to look at the Alnwick Garden link. It's difficult to convey the beauty and wonder of the garden on a one dimensional web page, but this will give you a hint of the treat for the senses that the features of the garden offer.
